Job Overview

The Night Auditor is responsible for performing a variety of services for guests while playing a key role in the revenues obtained by the selling of guest rooms.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Audit guest accounts to ensure that room rates and market codes are correct.
  • Determine the correct cash figure based on the hotel’s computer system.
  • Prepare sales summary.
  • Accurate accounting of all cash, credit card, and check transactions.
  • Register guests and collect valid method of payment and identification while maintaining accurate information on registration.
  • Communicate with staff members on status changes to guest rooms, meeting or banquet facilities.
  • Perform all night audit procedures.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Rooms and Front Desk Manager.
  • Post all late charges and all guest check corrections to guest folios. Post food, liquor, telephone, laundry, movies etc. to guest folios.
  • Audit guest checks for pricing and sales tax errors.
  • Reconciles all revenues on the overnight shift.
  • Possesses knowledge of hotel operations, the surrounding geographic area and all hotel facilities.
  • Run all computer reports.
  • Prepares a summation of all house charges and all credit card vouchers.
  • Post all room and tax to active guest accounts.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency required.

Experience:

  • Hotel experience preferred.
  • 6-12 months related experience and or/training preferred.

Interaction/Skill Set:

  • Excellent listening and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to read and understand English fluently and speak clearly.
  • Ability to effectively deal with customers’ complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the guests, and providing positive and proactive solutions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
