  • Mid-Level Industrial Hygienist*
BA/BS Industrial Hygiene, Environmental/Occupational Health or related discipline. This position is in response to growth and opportunities within the IH/Safety consulting sector.
Immediate needs are attributed to a new contract and additional growth is forecast in the industrial markets providing IH/EHS compliance throughout California. The expected growth path for this position is IH/Safety project manager with direct client responsibilities. Home office may be based out of Pleasanton, Sacramento, Los Angeles or San Diego.
Travel throughout California and the western US is required. Site evaluations will be performed in 1-3 day increments with travel generally not more than 2 weeks per trip. Overall travel is estimated 25%-50% of time.
General Responsibilities: 3-7 years of experience in the field of industrial hygiene conducting IH program evaluations in a variety of settings. Certification in Industrial Hygiene (CIH) and/or Safety Professional (CSP) is not required, however we prefer candidates who are pursuing or interested in pursuing certification in these practice areas.
Successful candidates will serve as a team lead in conducting Industrial Hygiene evaluations and assessments in industrial settings involving welding, painting, machinery operations, maintenance and repair, hazardous material storage, vehicle/aircraft maintenance, and general office/administrative processes.
Candidates must possess strong inter-personal communication skills. Successful candidates will have experience with Hazard Communication (HAZCOM), Risk Communication, Job Hazard Analysis, Health Risk Assessment, Health Effects of Hazardous Substances, Principles of Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Ventilation, Equipment and Sampling, Noise Dosimetry, Permit Required Confined Spaces, Lead Hazards, Chemical Hazards, Indoor Air Quality, Respiratory Protection Program, Hearing Conservation Program, Asbestos & Lead Programs. Experience with Google docs/google sheets and other web-based data management and field data collection tools is a plus.
In addition to the specific project requirements above, day-to-day industrial hygiene activities may include the following: Perform industrial hygiene evaluations including: Field inspections, sampling of air/water/soil/building materials for the presence of hazardous materials, employee monitoring, abatement and construction monitoring and/or management.
Perform industrial hygiene exposure assessments including: Analyze site conditions, interpret regulatory requirements and provide recommendations associated with physical, chemical and biological stressors; *Prerequisites*
Education and technical experience: A solid understanding of construction practices, building and engineering technology; knowledge of basic chemistry, geology and mathematics; Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans; At a minimum, possess a four-year degree in the health sciences, construction technology, engineering sciences; A minimum of five years (5) of related field experience; A minimum of three years (3) of project and client management in the environmental consulting industry; Verbal communication skills: Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills as this position requires significant personal interaction in a variety of settings.
Written communication skills: Demonstrates ability to prepare written documents, memorandums and letter reports using MS Office, including Outlook, Teams, Excel and Word. Software literacy: Demonstrates aptitude in using project management and CRM software.
