Systems Administrator



We are hiring IT network engineer at our Lowell, MA office. MACOM Lowell office is company head quarter. This position is non-transferable. In this position, the main responsibility is to support and maintain MACOM’s global network. Provide technical assistance to team members and end users. Design and build network topologies for new sites and data centers. Learn the existing network and suggest enhancement and new technologies if required.


For last three years MACOM has transformed and still adopting new technologies in its network design, last year MACOM moved from its traditional network setup to SDWAN technology. We will continue to adopt these new technologies, and as a part of this we are expanding our team, so we are looking for candidate who is self-motivated, ready to accept challenges to deploy new technology and willing to learn, to achieve self and organizational goals.


Required Experience:


  • 5+ Years of experience in core networking (Data/Voice/Security)
  • Vlan and VTP hands on experience
  • Routing Protocols
  • Must have in-depth understanding of TCP/IP protocol suite
  • Understanding of OSPF routing protocols
  • Cisco Switching certification will be added advantage
  • Hands on experience on spanning-tree tuning, trunk ports, Ether Channel's, Stacking, etc
  • Hand’s experience on route redistribution
  • Must have hands on experience on Cisco ASA
  • Ability to recommend and develop mission critical solutions; make recommendations to address capacity constraints, performance limitation on wide range of technologies
  • Understanding of Zscaler Web proxy firewall/IPS/Crowd strike will be added advantage
  • In depth knowledge of route-map's, access-lists, route-filters, policy base routing, SDWAN knowledge is must
  • Must work towards organizational goals
  • Hands-on on any latest generation technology like Meraki, Extreme etc. is desired
  • Individual contributor but a team player
  • Layer 3 SVI’s and inter-vlan routing hand on experience
  • SIP Gateways, Voice Gateway, basic knowledge of voice will be added advantage
  • Must have hands on experience on spanning-tree
  • Configuring IPsec VPN Tunnels
  • Strong working knowledge of wireless networking technologies and solutions
  • Wireless Network
  • Deep understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching technology
  • Basic knowledge of Project management
  • Good communication skills
  • Must have completed understanding (Design/Configuration/Troubleshooting) of AnyConnect VPN
  • Understanding of basic security stack in mandatory
  • Security
  • L2 & L3 Switching
  • Understanding of BGP
  • VPC/VXLAN/OTV/NX-OS switching knowledge is must
  • Applying ACL’s and Troubleshooting knowledge on the ASA


Job Qualifications:


  • Hands-on experience with racking and stacking server equipment
  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Bachelors or advanced degree
  • Comfortable performing basic system administration (Windows and / or Linux)
  • Demonstrates strong work ethics
  • 5+ years related IT Network Administration experience
  • Ability to work independently and in teams reaching high levels of productivity


Desired Skills:


  • Other relevant certifications
  • Experience working within the Semiconductor Industry
  • Cisco Certified professional preferred (CCNA / CCNP / CCIE in R&S / Voice)
  • Contracts and vendor management.
  • Exposure to Atlassian tools JIRA/Confluence
