Requirements


The Network Administrator will be responsible for providing support to internal teams and some customer related work. This individual must possess a strong technical understanding of networking designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, monitoring, supporting, and optimizing network hardware and software in a Fortinet and Cisco environment. This individual should possess some systems administrator experiences such as VMWare, Servers, Azure, AD, M365 and monitoring tools. This individual must also be a strong team player, have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to interact effectively with a sense of urgency utilizing best practices, technical skills, common sense, and best judgment. The Network Administrator will participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure network provisioning and maintenance are consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.


Primary Duties


  • Create and publish documentation in the knowledge base.
  • Increase responsiveness and implement permanent resolution of issues by identifying trends in service histories.
  • Monitor and hand incidents, alerts, and change requests or route to appropriate team members.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Comply with internal security controls and procedures for New Era Technology and customer requirements.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications.
  • Maintain the Infrastructure Topology Map – ensure networking, systems, and connectivity links are updated as changes occur.
  • Provide technical guidance to New Era Technology and some customers as subject matter expert.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Participate in corporate disaster recovery plans and perform bi-annual tests.
  • Fortinet experience (FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, Forticlient, FortiCloud, FortiNAC)
  • Approach technical issues with root cause discovery and resolution in mind.
  • Maintain New Era Technology network architecture design, implementation, configuration and troubleshooting across the organization, including capacity planning and performance benchmarks.
  • Follow a project through its lifecycle to successful deployment.
  • Ensure annual vulnerability assessments and penetration tests are performed as required.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for New Era Technolocy managed services teams and technical support team.
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
  • Assist with internal IT audits of our network environment and take appropriate action when necessary.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, standards and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, business continuity and scalability.
  • Share newly acquired information with peers to improve support capabilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve superior customer service.
  • Provide mentoring and training of other colleagues.
  • Manage network infrastructure data center components including Circuits, SDWAN, Routers, Firewalls, Switches, VPN, Wireless Access Points (WAN), Data Center UPS and HVAC units.

Experience Required


  • Understanding of cabling and cabling termination.
  • Flexible working hours and available afterhours / weekends during service outages, upgrades, and project rollouts.

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer networking and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and industry that is continually changing.
  • Proficient time management skills with a sense of urgency.

  • Experience using various packet capture methods for both wired and wireless links.

  • Thorough understanding of firewall and network security to include NAT/traffic rules, layer 7, layer 3 and port forwarding.

  • Experience with hosted unified communications platforms and Cisco Call Manager is a plus.
  • Expert knowledge on the following Fortinet network devices:

  • Certification and experience with multiple vendors, preferably Fortinet (NSE 1-3), Cisco (CCNP), Cradle Point, Meraki, Microsoft, Linux, CompTIA, and ITIL.

  • Some experience in server or workstation hardware, operating systems and software.
