They are often considered highly versed in UT and Eddy Current production processes and procedures, as well as the requirements of our customers and ASTM standards. The NDT Technician is responsible for ensuring that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Work Instructions (WI’s) are followed, and that in-process and final tubing produced complies with all customer requirements, specifications, and ASTM standards

  • NDT Technician is required to be proficient in the use of a variety of measuring instruments, including Micrometers, Bore Gauges, Calipers, and Tape Measures in order to take dimensional measurements such as Outside Diameter (OD), Inside Diameter (ID), wall thickness and lengths of tubing to ensure that all products meet the customer’s requirements.

This includes visual inspection of defects, special testing (both non-destructive and destructive), and measuring in order to determine or verify customer related problems or concerns. NDT Technician will document results and submit to the Quality Director.
  • Since the NDT Technician performs part of their job responsibility in the production work area, they are required to regularly communicate with the Production Floor Operators, and the SBM’s regarding customer requirements, processing issues, and problems with tubing being produced.

The NDT Technician is also responsible for reporting to management any non-conforming tubing or improper processing or failure to follow SOP’s and WI’s by production operators.
  • NDT Technician must use the computer located in his or her work center to access tubing processing specifics, customer requirements, prior production processing information, tagging requirements, and other quality assurance comments. As the tubing processes through their assigned work centers, the NDT Technician will be asked to trouble shoot any problems with quality on trial or regular orders. They will be asked to work with a representative from the Engineering Department in support teams.
