Your New Role - Reforestation Forester
Our work is meaningful. You’ll be supporting an agency completing critical forestry work across the state. Oregon is proud of its forests, and our staff are proud of the work we accomplish to protect, manage, and promote forest stewardship.
As the Reforestation Forester, you will monitor regeneration stand conditions and assist in the preparation and administration of service contracts and work plans in the accomplishment of reforestation and young stand management activities
Minimum Qualifications:
a Bachelor's degree in Forestry or a closely related Natural Resource Program
OR
Three years of experience in Forestry or a closely related Natural Resource Program.
Requested Skills:
  • Skill to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with a variety of people to answer questions and explain information.
  • Ability to plan, direct and conduct surveys in young tree stands
  • Ability to administer contracts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pre-commercial thinning, fertilization, and pruning.
  • Ability to make decisions regarding plantation monitoring, scheduling of tree planting, and tree release activities.
  • The ability to work efficiently primarily in the field in an arduous work environment.
  • Skill writing clear and concise status, summary, technical, or narrative reports.
