Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL)Reactor Project Engineering group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) Configuration Management Engineer.

Our team works a hybrid 4x10 schedule located at our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off!

Responsibilities Include:

The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking applicants as a National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) Configuration Management Engineer. The NRIC Configuration Management Engineer will be the technical point of contact with respect to configuration management and product lifecycle management for multiple advanced reactor demonstration projects. The positions will be in the Reactor Project Engineering department at MFC and is collocated with the NRIC testbeds. Engineers in the Reactor Project Engineering Department are classified as Nuclear Research Facility Engineers.

INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for the Department of Energy (DOE). The NRIC testbeds provide a unique capability to allow testing of first of a kind advanced micro reactors. Being collocated with MFC allows reactor developers to leverage additional nuclear fuels research and development expertise along with numerous post-irradiation examination and analytical capabilities. Key Functions of this role are:

  • Ensure that all engineering deliverables meet the process requirements for configuration management (reviews and approvals)
  • Act as the system administrator for the product lifecycle management (PLM) tools, PTC Windchill
  • Ensure that engineering data can be received and processed in accordance with procedures in the PLM system
  • Ensure that the necessary data from interfacing systems is obtained, stored and maintained in the PLM system to maintain configuration control
  • Interface with owners of other systems to ensure data transfer and data integrity is maintained throughout the digital thread
  • Responsible for understanding the interface between the PLM system and other INL business systems
  • Act as the configuration management engineer to develop and implement the process and work flows in the PLM system
  • Responsible for progressing the transition to digital tools for the department and ensuring that proper configuration management is developed and implemented within those digital tools
  • Ensure that change management is implemented for all projects in the Reactor Engineering Department
  • Administers the IT equipment associated with the PLM tool (UNIX and Windows systems) including backups and cyber security


QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Requirements:

  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Other degrees may be considered with sufficient relevant experience
  • Experience in multiple CAD software tools such as PTC Creo, Dassault Solidworks, Siemens NX, AutoCAD, etc.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship
  • Proficient in the configuration and use of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools such as PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter, Dassault Enovia, etc.
  • Applicable degrees include; Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, Electrical, and Instrumentation & Control’s engineering, Aerospace, Computer/Software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Powerpoint, Excel and Word)
  • Working knowledge of software languages/formats/services such as XML, JavaScript, SQL, REST API
  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering discipline and 5-8 years relevant engineering experience, or a master’s degree and 3-6 years relevant experience
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Preferred Requirements:

  • PMP certification via PMI
  • Experience with IBM DOORS NG
  • Experience in the Department of Energy capital acquisition lifecycle, especially with regards to DOE O 413.3B
  • CM2 certification via ICM
  • ASEP/CSEP certification via INCOSE
