Schedule
The work schedule throughout 2023 will be Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3 pm. After January 1, employees will be on fixed shifts of either days or nights. The 2024 schedule will be determined and communicated in advance. Out of state training at other GAF locations will be required for multiple weeks in 2023.

Summary
The Maintenance Electrician will earn $42 per hour and is responsible for safely completing a wide range of tasks under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor and must be proficient in mechanical, electrical and facility maintenance in a manufacturing setting. Responsible for assigned preventative maintenance work orders and repairs to electrical systems and mechanical equipment in the plant. Requirements will include skills such as fabricating, welding, machining, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
The Maintenance Electrician supports the production of high quality commercial roofing products, with a sense of urgency and accountability for equipment uptime. This employee thrives in environments where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities and is able to make recommendations to improve the overall performance of plant equipment. The Maintenance Electrician will interact and communicate effectively with all GAF employees with a positive, customer focused attitude. Developing strong relationships with production operators and other staff is critical.
Essential Duties
  • When not engaged in regular duties, perform other work as assigned
  • Install and/or replace new or reconditioned parts as needed
  • Complete assigned preventative maintenance work orders on facilities, electrical systems, mechanical systems, equipment, and components
  • Keep storeroom organized and maintain inventory counts per established procedures
  • Troubleshoots all primary (up to 480v) and secondary electrical systems and control circuits
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records in Maximo while completing all required written and electronic documentation including work orders and labor hours
  • Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot industrial equipment, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems with minimal supervision
  • Able to follow and understand mechanical sketches, drawing and prints; able to locate and understand information contained in equipment manuals
  • Inform Maintenance Supervisor of progress and concerns related to job assignments, plant condition, equipment status, and safety conditions
  • Ensure that excellent housekeeping is maintained and enhanced during the performance of all tasks
  • Support engineering projects as directed, including those with corporate and local contractor services
  • Dismantle and make necessary repairs to such equipment as pumps, motors, chains, sprockets, bearing couple alignment, and other components
  • Diagnose actual and potential problems, make necessary repairs, and test new and repaired machinery
  • Use the appropriate test instruments to diagnose and locate equipment malfunctions
  • Prepares for shift start up by reviewing shift notes, outgoing employee observations, e-mails, log books and other department data
  • Responsible for working safely and reporting all incidents
  • Follow all safety rules and policies including LTV (Lock, Tag, Verify,) maintenance work permits, PPE, JSAs and JSOs
  • Tests and puts into service all electrical equipment that has been repaired, moved or recently installed
  • Wire and maintain all buildings and structures including lighting and fixtures
Physical Demands
  • Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of manufacturing equipment and machinery
  • Frequent sitting, walking and standing; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and balancing
  • Required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, tools and product samples
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds
  • Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone

  • Self-Motivated, responsible, enthusiastic, trustworthy and a positive attitude
  • Minimum 3+ years industrial maintenance experience; extrusion or rigid insulation manufacturing environment helpful
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required
  • Physical capability and stamina to fit workplace demands
