Job Description

SUMMARY

The Monitor Technician I is responsible for the continual monitoring of cardiac rhythms of electrocardiographic central station monitors and remote telemetry patients monitors. The Monitor Technician I accurately interprets cardiac rhythms and reports any changes of the cardiac rhythm to the appropriate nurse. Maintains and orders telemetry supplies and equipment as needed on the assigned unit.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • Performs, communicates and documents cardiac rhythm interpretation and documents dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation.
  • Provides direct observation of telemetry monitors; distributes monitors to staff for unit/remote monitoring; and maintains monitoring equipment as needed.
  • Records and prints routine strips for the medical record; maintains documentation of routine strips and any changes in rhythm and rate.
  • Maintains documentation regarding admissions, transfers, and dismissals of all patients on telemetry monitors.
  • Maintains and orders telemetry supplies and equipment as needed on the assigned unit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalency required. Successful completion of an ECG monitoring class required and/or competency validation. Prior telemetry monitoring experience in a medical facility preferred. Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.

Schedule: Part-time, Night shift, 1845-0715, every other weekend
