Job Description
Kyverna is a cell therapy company engineering and developing a new class of curative living medicines for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Kyverna is navigating what’s next in the synthetic biology, immunology and cell engineering to create a new class of T-cell therapies programmed to target and selectively modulate the underlying causes of autoimmunity. Join the front lines of a cell therapy revolution where scientists, industry veterans and healthcare visionaries are creating a new class of living medicines for autoimmune disease.

Kyverna is recruiting a highly motivated Molecular Biology Assay Research Associate for Analytical Development group to help advance its mission to free patients from the siege of autoimmune disease. The candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory-based studies and providing technical expertise to design, develop, optimize, qualify and tech transfer methods across technologies including genetic tests (ddPCR, RT-qPCR), immunoassays (ELISA, flow cytometry), and cell-based assays (T cell culturing, killing assay, viability, etc).
The ideal candidate will develop advanced ddPCR methods to characterize, monitor, and understand the attributes of engineered cells that are part of the Kyverna pipeline. The ideal candidate will also contribute to performing immunoassays and flow cytometry, supporting cell production process. The ideal candidate will contribute to our goals of navigating what’s next in synthetic biology, immunology and cell engineering while living our core values: Bring Intellectual Rigor, Elevate Each Other, and Stay True To Why.

  • Support in-house Process Development by providing analytical testing and data analysis.
  • Organize data for writing test procedures, SOPs, and protocols.
  • Maintain good electronic notebook record of performed studies.
  • Develop ddPCR and RT-qPCR assays to characterize starting material, in-process and engineered cellular products.
  • Support development of immunoassays to characterize in-process and final cellular products.
  • Analyze data to support regulatory filings and evaluate new technologies
  • Work with typical biological software such as Benchlink, FlowJo, SnapGene.
  • Assist with PCR methods qualification and validation in support of regulatory filing.
  • Collaborate with research and technical development within Kyverna and CMO/CRO organizations supporting the business.

Requirements:

  • Experience with mammalian tissue culture including both adherent and suspension cells, and flow cytometry is a plus.
  • Ability to think critically and demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work effectively as part of a team and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • 1+ years of directly related laboratory experience developing or performing genetic methods such as ddPCR, RT-PCR, qPCR, cloning, transfection etc.
  • Resourcefulness in overcoming challenges and possessing the ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
  • Document laboratory procedures and experiments with great attention to detail and maintain accurate lab records and notebooks.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological sciences such as biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, or a related discipline. T cell biology and immunology background are preferred.
  • Ability to execute experiments with minimal technical supervision.
  • 1+ years of experience with immunoassays such as ELISA, Ella, Isoplex, MSD, Western blot analysis.
