The P-8 Poseidon Program is looking for a highly motivated First Level Manager (Level K) to lead the Mission Systems Software Integration and Test team in Kent, WA and Tukwila, WA.


The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) P-8 Poseidon program is the premier Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) platform for the US Navy and several international customers. Our program is anticipated to continue to be a stable program with a solid future. The Mission Systems Software Integration and Test team consists of approximately 20 engineers who are responsible for hardware and software integration of new mission capabilities and formal testing and qualification of software products. This role requires direct experience that demonstrates accomplishing results with non-management employees to resolve technical or operational challenges to meet cost and schedule objectives.

Position Responsibilities


  • Travel may be required up to 5% of the time; Domestically depending on business needs.
  • Developing estimates to support contract proposal activities.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Developing and executing plans in accordance with organizational processes and procedures.
  • Balancing work load, headcount and task assignments to achieve program objectives within cost and schedule targets.
  • Leading the team using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology.
  • Leading a team of employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Integration and Testing.
  • Providing oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Driving productivity improvements within the team to reduce cycle time while at the same time increasing test coverage and efficiency.
  • Managing, developing and motivating employees and modeling the Boeing Values. Using Seek, Speak and Listen to actively engage with employees.
  • Coaching, mentoring and providing developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance.


This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.


This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post Start is required.


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)


  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • 1+ years of experience managing multiple competing priorities.
  • 5+ years combined software development, integration & test experience and/or mission systems experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role, leading teams or projects to successful completion.


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)


  • Familiarity with Jira.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • 3+ years of experience working with Hardware/Software Integration and/or Software Laboratory Test.
  • Experience with agile software development practices, preferably trained in SAFe.

Summary pay range: $138,500 - $187,450

  • 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
