Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Mission Assurance 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Quality and Mission Assurance organization. This leadership role is located in Palmdale, CA.

The Manager Mission Assurance 1 will be responsible for defining and monitoring mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of programs. Performs or assures quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements. Assesses program performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission assurance, which will include the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recommends corrective action where necessary. Fulfills staffing requirements including hiring and tracking of personnel. Manages indirect budgets and stays within budget. Submits annually capital request submittals tracking, delivery and providing oversight thru assigning property numbers as proof of receipt. Responsible for the direct supervision/management of the staff. Planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages
  • Performs or assures quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Leads a team of skilled professionals in ensuring product quality. Recruits, trains and mentors the next generation of NDT professionals to help develop new inspection techniques for current and future products.
  • Executes daily activities for multi-shift operations and will be the face of NDT for all Programs. Develops and implements testing and inspection procedures. Leads the team that tests raw material, chemicals, and/or finished product to quality controls to ensure compliance with quality standards and applicable government regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have 1-5 years of Non-Destructive Inspection Experience
  • Must have 2 years of prior leadership experience.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (PAR)
  • Must have a High School Diploma AND 5+ years of related professional/military experience in a Quality Assurance/Quality Management role with at least 5 years of that experience in an Aircraft, Aerospace or Manufacturing industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
  • Active DOD Clearance
  • LEAN - Six Sigma (Green or Black belt)
  • Previous Level II Experience
  • Aviation Inspection Experience
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • ASNT LV III in multiple methods
  • Current and active DoD Secret Security Clearance


Salary Range: $112,000 USD - $168,000 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
