Job Description

THRIVE is a school unlike any other – one of the first boarding schools in the country serving at-risk students. The mission of THRIVE is to empower students from underserved Louisiana communities and prepare them academically and personally for success in college and beyond. THRIVE aims to reach this goal through a world-class school in a boarding setting. Serving grades six through twelve, THRIVE will provide the students and families of Louisiana with a never before-seen service – a free public boarding school. Position Information

Job Title: Teacher

Salary: Commensurate with years of experience and certification status

Responsibilities

Curriculum and Instruction

· Crafting a classroom vision and creating an academic long-term plan for instruction.

· Planning and executing the year’s curriculum, lessons and learning objectives align to the state standards the assure student learning.

· Providing differentiated instruction to ensure the needs of all types of learners and students varying levels of being met.

· Providing direct instruction and small group instruction in centers.

· Developing all materials needed for instruction

· Work with the Special Education Instructor to ensure that all IEP goals are being met.

· Recording grades, reporting attendance and completing report cards.

D*ata Analysis and Achievement*

· With support from the school leader, provide data driven instruction.

· Assessing student learning and checking for mastery with daily exit slips, weekly quizzes and unit tests, among other examples of assessments that are aligned to the GLEs.

· Holding weekly subject level data meetings that are centered around outcomes for meeting student needs and improving instruction.

School Culture and Parent Engagement

· Providing parents with regular feedback through quarterly parent-teacher conferences, phone calls once a month, progress reports, report cards and other communication as needed.

· Invests students in learning and in the culture of the school.

· Promoting students’ character development and a positive classroom environment by establishing an atmosphere of Endurance, Compassion, Independence, Ownership and Partnership.

· Effectively working on a team.

· Taking on leadership responsibilities within the school.

· Following the student and staff discipline policies and the staff and student handbooks.

· Being committed to growing professionally through consistent feedback from the academy leader, academic studies and professional development.

Qualifications

· Has at least a bachelor’s degree and working towards teaching certification and license in subject teaching.

· Has at least two years of successful (students have made at least 1.5 years growth each year) classroom experience with a title 1 school. (this qualification may be waived in times of staffing need as determined by the Principal)

· Uses data to inform decisions and is achievement driven.

· Has demonstrated mastery of lesson planning and long-term planning.

· Has outstanding behavior management and investment system.

· Has demonstrated mastery in time-management skills.

· Has exceptional problem-solving skills and values feedback.

· Has knowledge of the Common Core.

· Fosters relational capacity among staff, parents and students.

Accountability: This position is accountable to the Principal.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,117.00 - $80,000.00 per year
