Job Description

Middle School Languages Teacher

Windermere Preparatory School is seeking a certified Languages Educator to plan, organize, and provide language instruction to our 6th graders, focusing on a global perspective. The ideal candidate will develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies and address all aspects of language communication through appropriate instruction that develops each student’s ability to read, write, speak, and listen.

Additionally, candidates should possess a combination of Language instructional expertise as well as a general approach to teaching world languages. Candidates will possess 3-5+ years relevant experience. Experience in the private school sector preferred, but not required.

Bachelor’s Degree required, area of specialty in English Language Arts or World Languages; Master’s Degree and certification preferred.

  • Effective organizational skills including but not limited to lesson planning, implementing units of study, differentiating instruction, designing and implementing assessments
  • Prioritize and to expend allotted resources in alignment with stated academic priorities
  • Mentor and coach students
  • Willingness to work with IB Curriculum
  • Monitor student progress and report information in a timely manner


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Adhere to the World Language department overview and course snapshot
  • Provide a safe learning environment in which students can take intellectual risks
  • Develop lessons that engage students in higher order thinking
  • Encourage students to confidently and freely ask questions
  • Use learning resources and technology to enhance lessons where appropriate
  • Select and plan appropriate learning and teaching activities that are in alignment with Windermere Preparatory School and Nord Anglia Education
  • Provide opportunities for student expression using spoken, written, and electronic forms of communication.
  • Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Work with grade level and World Language teams
  • Identify students who need additional academic assistance and influence needed actions accordingly
  • Exercise good classroom management with the use of fair and consistent standards and appropriate sanctions that are clearly articulated to the students
  • Know and use a wide range of assessment strategies consistent with course content and objectives
  • Create a stimulating and challenging learning environment with effective use being made of classroom displays
  • Develop student cooperation and tolerance through group work
  • Provide reports on student progress and maintain open communication with ensuring that these reports are accurate and constructive
