Job Title: Microsoft Defender Engineer
Location: US-Remote
Must be US Citizen
Long Term Contract
Responsibilities
This role offers the opportunity to participate in the evolution of end user computing technology across the enterprise. The ideal candidate is an expert IT end user engineer who has proven experience designing, developing, implementing and maintaining a security posture on Microsoft endpoints. The Endpoint Protection Engineer is responsible for providing high quality support in managing, planning, monitoring, and reporting on the service and remediation. The Endpoint Protection Engineer is charged with managing and monitoring the enforcement of all applicable directives at a quality level acceptable to the customer. The Endpoint Protection Engineer will devise, and review methods for monitoring, evaluating/reporting the performance. As part of a continuous process improvement role, the Endpoint Protection Engineer will play a critical role in reporting deviations, monitoring and reporting trends, remediating non-complaint systems, and ensuring products are current.
The position is remote/telecommuting. There may be times where the EndPoint Protection Engineer needs to be available outside of normal hours to support critical issues, meetings, or implementation windows.
Technology Scope of Position
  • Technologies may include end user compute, collaboration & productivity, and directory services. The focus of this role is Microsoft Defender on the endpoint to include implementation and administration; administrative scripting.
  • Solid knowledge of the following product space including Windows platform, Microsoft Defender on the Endpoint, Microsoft security management tools/management tools
Responsibilities
  • Maintain distribution points across all sites including vendor sites when necessary
  • Basic code skills in one of the following languages PowerShell/VBScript
  • Work closely with Application teams to test and approve new software being added to the builds
  • Work with minimal supervision, with attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Provide solutions to complex issues; handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Process oriented and can document work processes and workflows
  • Work in a large IT enterprise environment following SOP’s and Work Instructions to provide quality customer service
  • Work in a group setting and able to collaborate with remote personnel of various skill levels and provide McAfee and Microsoft Defender support to customers
  • Provide guidance and recommendation for endpoint security
  • Develop automate tools for information gathering and configuration changes to the desktop security environment
  • Strong ability to identify issues in the environment and can efficiently communicate the issues with colleagues and upper management
  • Ensure the Change Management procedures are followed
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of network concepts/protocols
  • Knowledge of scripting
  • Experience managing workstation and server anti-virus software, DAT files, content updates as it relates to security compliance
  • Experience operating and maintaining enterprise level information security tools
  • 2 years of experience performing day-to-day activities required to administer and deploy Microsoft Defender to all enterprise workstations and servers
  • Experience using ticketing systems, such as ServiceNow
  • Experience with other EDR/antivirus or FIM products (Crowdstrike, Cylance, Carbon Black, SCEP, SEPM, Tanium, etc)
  • Knowledge of firewalls and IDS/IPS
  • Experience in Systems Administration, including server & workstation troubleshooting
  • 5 years of experience in IT endpoint security or related field
  • Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server OS knowledge (Win10, Server 2012 or higher)
