Springhill Medical Center is a full service hospital serving southwest Alabama. Our surgical services include outpatient, inpatient, open-heart and robotic surgery. The hospital is equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment, meaning doctors have advanced technology to help them quickly determine a patient's health problem. About Springhill Medical Center's Clinical Lab SMC's Clinical Laboratory is a forward thinking innovative Clinical Laboratory with future plans for a fully Automated Laboratory. The lab currently has a Chemistry Automation line which includes a centrifuge, decapper, recapper, and a storage unit. This type of automation allows techs working in the Chemistry Department to focus completely on patient results.

Pre-Employment Requirements

• All employees are required to be vaccinated or provide a valid medical or religious exemption.
• We are a drug free facility. Passing a pre-employment drug screening is required.

Education

• Meets the CLIA standards for moderate and high complexity testing under CFR 493.1433
• B.S. in Medical Laboratory Science or B.A. in Medical Laboratory Technician, ASCP Certification required.

Job Requirements

• Must be able to perform multiple task simultaneously.
• One-year experience as a Microbiologist in a Hospital Laboratory is required.
• Must have the ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
