Medical Laboratory Technician Jobs

NEEDED: MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

LOCATION: USP Pollock, 1000 air Base Road, Pollock, LA 71467

HOURS: 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), between the hours of either 6:00 am and 2:30 pm or 7:30 am and 4:00 pm

QUALIFICATIONS:

• U.S. Citizen
• Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience basic laboratory and phlebotomy skills as required for ACLIA Wavered Laboratory Certificate.
• Knowledge and experience in the field of Medical Laboratory Services and the ability to perform services as described below:

RESPONSIBILITIES: (not limited to)

• Drawing blood samples,
• Proper testing of FOBT cards,
• Must have the ability to work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial, and ethnic backgrounds
• Performing venipuncture,
• Provides training to medical staff in laboratory procedures as necessary.
• Adhere to the Bureau of Prisons Health Services Guidelines relating to laboratory services required to maintain ACLIA Wavered Laboratory Certificate.
• Swab patients for the following: COVID, Flu Strep, ordering of lab supplies, collect DNA specimens, preparing lab samples for shipment to the appropriate laboratory and any other duties assigned by the Health Service Administrator or Assistant Health Service Administrator.
• Performs quality control on specified samples and records results as indicated.
• Separate stool per guidelines of lab for appropriate testing,
• Filling out appropriate laboratory request forms,
• Collect stool samples,
• Will be responsible for recording results of all laboratory specimens in the appropriate logbooks. Will prepare monthly and quarterly reports on continued quality improvement and submit reports to the Health Service Administrator.
• Collect and separate urine per guidelines,
• Al Point of Care testing,
