Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced MEP Executive to provide mechanical, electrical and process systems technical leadership on semiconductor projects to owner and project team, from conceptual design and trade partner procurement to systems installation, start-up, and commissioning. Develop and enhance customer relationships by providing excellent service.


Responsibilities


  • Develop new and utilize existing industry relationships with strategic design partners, trade partners, vendors, and industry suppliers to provide cost effective solutions and exceptional customer service.
  • Understand customer process mechanical and cleanroom environmental control systems requirements and convert them into design and performance criteria for contracted design and trade partners
  • Provide technical MEP support for Business Development activities for proposed new facilities
  • Interface closely with tool hookup and facilities design/construction teams to ensure the manufacturing facility is expanding in a reliable and cost-effective manner
  • Assist preconstruction teams in reviewing bid packages, schedules, engineering drawings to ensure compliance to RFP documents
  • Review project proposals with Project Managers, Preconstruction Managers, or other Construction Executives to advise on project schedules, limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects
  • Provide semiconductor fabrication facility technical expertise
  • Assist project teams in reviewing engineering drawings and specifications to ensure compliance to contract requirements for proper operation and that adequate provisions have been made for testing and other pre-commissioning functions
  • Maintain knowledge of current and developing technologies. Reviews industry performance, analyzes industry trends, and maintains industry contacts
  • Direct involvement in negotiations with contractors to resolve technical and commercial issues during contract negotiations; and subsequently provides project support and advice during construction, start-up and turnover phases
  • Provide technical/engineering MEP support for projects in development and construction. Prepares MEP design criteria, the technical aspect of contract documents, and drawings and specifications with third parties, including owner’s engineers
  • Ensure project MEP engineering activities comply with company requirements and support overall construction budget and schedule. Prepares internal reports and updates required by senior management and project management
  • Provide technical MEP support for projects including development of technical scope and design, cost estimates and schedule requirements, engineering services and contracts, and construction contracts
  • Develop and review schematic (P&ID) and conceptual designs for fab cleanroom environmental control systems, chemical distribution, process gases, waste/containment systems, acid/solvent waste and exhaust, process cooling water, process/house vacuum, ultra-pure water, controls, and monitoring systems to support optimal solutions that align with project budget and schedule requirements
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Design Phase Managers and Project Engineers to assess problems requiring technical solutions and develops procedures and specifications to implement them
  • Specify and procure process mechanical, HVAC, electrical and plumbing equipment for semiconductor fabrication facility
  • Interface with facilities staff and project managers
  • Provide general MEP oversight and leadership

Education And Experience Requirements


  • Knowledge of semiconductor facilities systems including fab cleanroom environmental systems, chemical distribution, process gases, waste/containment systems, acid/solvent waste and exhaust, process cooling water, process/house vacuum, ultra-pure water, controls, and monitoring systems.
  • Proven success working for an A/E or EPCM company in a similar role, supporting projects related to cleanrooms, semiconductor fabrication facilities, advanced manufacturing, or pharmaceutical industries is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in MEP design, facility management or construction management
  • Experience in the design, installation, and operation of semiconductor fabrication facility mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems with focus on process mechanical systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Materials or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or extensive equivalent experience
  • Current driver's license
