Job Description
The function of this position is to coordinate and engage in the day to day activities occurring in the front office of a busy professional physician office. Duties include scheduling, registration and medical records, specifically answering telephone in a prompt and courteous manner, routing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages, schedules appointments in compliance with practice's policies and procedures, confirms appointments and prepares/maintains medical records in compliance with practice's policies and procedures. Performs patient check-in, check-out, and end-of-day tasks in compliance with practice's policies and procedures and performs other duties that occur in the front office of the practice.
Oversees the balancing of charges, receipts and end of day. Oversees front office staff work and time, where applicable.
Medical Assistants are integral members of our healthcare team. We offer on-the-job training and a career assistance program to help you become a Certified Medical Assistant.
Duties include assisting with the direct care of patients as well as other clinic activities such as preparation and information documentation for the patient's visit including obtaining vitals, medical history and other pertinent information from the patient. Prepares exam rooms for patients. May assist with procedures as directed by the Provider. Assists with collection of lab samples.
Qualifications
The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Work experience: Minimum two years experience working in a physician's practice desired.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Must have the ability to work independently, have strong communication skills, good basic math skills and be computer literate. Coding experience preferable. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Customer service skills a must. A service oriented personality is required.
Physical And Environmental Requirements
Extended periods of time sitting and walking, bending and stooping may be required. Ability to do repetitive work, keyboarding and writing. Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time. Has the ability to lift and move 15 pounds. Vision and hearing corrected to normal limits. Potential exposure to patients or other individuals who may be physically or verbally abusive.
Work responsibilities may involve access to medication storage areas to perform core job functions, deliver non narcotic medications or restock supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS For Medical Assistant
The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job.   • License/certification is not required for this position.
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities: Excellent customer service skills are required. Must have the ability to work independently, have strong oral skills, good basic math skills and be computer literate.
  • Life Safety: American Heart Association BLS certification (CPR) classes are offered on site. Certification must be completed within 30 days of hire and maintained.
  • Work experience: Past experience in the medical field is preferred, but working as a medical assistant in a physician's office is not required.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS For Medical Assistant
Extended periods of walking, standing, bending and stooping may be required. Ability to hear clearly and have visual acuity necessary for computer use. Ability to do repetitive work, keyboarding and writing. Ability to lift 25 pounds.
