NextCare Introduction
- Certification is not required but is preferred.
- The medical assistant candidate has completed an APPROVED Medical Assistant Training Program*.
- The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health; or
- The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES); or
- The medical assistant candidate has completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND
- Certification* is required.
- National Commission for Certifying Agencies; or
- American National Standards Institute
- The medical assistant candidate is eligible for hire if they meet one of the following three (3) criteria within A., or B., or C
- The medical assistant candidate completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA)-administers the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam and certification
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - administers the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and certification; or
- Was Employed as a medical assistant for one (1) year or more after program completion must have occurred prior to February 2, 2000,*; or
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) – provides the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam and certification to individuals who have completed the AMT criteria; or
- The medical assistant candidate was directly supervised by the SAME physician, physician group, or physician assistant for a minimum of 2000 hours (approximately working 40 hours/week for 12 months) prior to February 2, 2000,* ; or
- The medical assistant completed a United States Armed Forces medical services training program*.
- The medical assistant candidate has completed an APPROVED Medical Assistant Training Program*.
- Certification is not required but is preferred.
- Certification* is required.
- The U.S. Department of Education DAPIP
- The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health; or
- The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES); or
- The medical assistant candidate has completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND
- American National Standards Institute; or
- National Commission for Certifying Agencies; or
- The medical assistant candidate completed an UNAPPROVED medical assistant training program AND
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) - administers the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam and certification; or
- The medical assistant candidate may be hired if they meet one of the following three (3) criteria within A., or B., or C.
- Employed as a medical assistant for one (1) year or more after program completion;
- American Medical Technologists (AMT) – provides the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam and certification to individuals who have completed the AMT criteria; or
