A Brief Overview
The Medical Assistant functions as a member of the clinic patient care team. The position performs clinical tasks and procedures to support the delivery of care. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting patients obtain services in a timely manner and assuring efficient utilization of resources and in the coordination of patient care.

The Medical Assistant IV performs the duties of a MA I-III, in addition acts in an advanced and/or specialist level with responsibilities for performing work of a complex or interdisciplinary nature. Leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall functions and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure. Performs the most complex duties.

What you will do
  • Job Scope:
  • Acts as liaison between MA and providers
  • Maintain MD schedule as needed
  • INTRODUCE yourself and your role
  • C-I-CARE
  • Uses C-I-CARE templates and the following components for all communication with patients and staff:
  • Functions independently seeking assistance as appropriate.
  • Professional communication style
  • Able to act as resource and troubleshoot equipment when needed
  • Patient flow management responsibilities
  • Projects as needed
  • Communicate department/organizational updates/reminders as needed
  • Knowledgeable about the organization’s strategic goals, long-term direction and performance.
  • Scribing for providers
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and concepts applicable to health care developed through specialized training and/or extensive related experience.
  • Develop and/or maintain resource binder for department as needed
  • Support MA’s Level I, II, & III
  • Participates in Internal Clinic audits
  • CONNECT with people by calling them their proper name, or the name they prefer (Mr., Ms., Dr.)
  • Executes world class practices of service and patient care in support of C-I-CARE standards.
  • Care Coordination for patient’s needs, which includes tracking that patient referrals and testing are completed
  • EXIT courteously with an explanation of what will come next
  • Preceptor for new Medical Assistants/students
  • COMMUNICATE what you are going to do, how long it will take, and how it will impact the patient
  • Work collaboratively with team, to develop plan for daily assignments
  • Developing leadership skills.
  • Leads in the development of policies, procedures and maintenance of A3 for department improvement as needed
  • All of Level I, II, & III, in addition:
  • Performs other duties as assigned and participates in organization projects as assigned.
  • Knowledge:
  • ASK permission before entering a room, examining a patient or undertaking an activity
  • RESPOND to patient’s questions or requests promptly; anticipate patient needs
  • Level of Supervision:
  • All other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities:
  • Clinic patient flow management including clinical documentation in partnership with physician as “lead” for clinic
  • 1 Leadership class per year as needed

Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from an approved school/institution or equivalent documented training required.

Experience Qualifications
  • Three (3) years or more of related experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to obtain new computer skills, orient appropriately, and act as resource as needed.
  • Act as a resource for telemedicine as needed.
  • Same as Level I, II, & III, in addition:

Licenses and Certifications
  • BLS - Basic Life Support required .
  • CMA - Certified Or Registered Medical Assistant preferred .

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $29.85 - $38.05 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
