Medical Assistant, Grand View Ob/Gyn Associates

At Grand View Health is looking for a Medical Assistant for our OB/GYN practices. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians in the examination and treatment of patients by delivering quality patient care, performing clinical and clerical duties within the practices. Essential Functions

• Preparing the patient chart prior to the visit which includes ensuring that all test results, hospital records and consult letters are in the record. Identifies any quality gaps and flags them for the provider.
• Spinning blood samples and completing lab paperwork as needed.
• Communicating test results to the patient under the direction of the provider as well as answering questions that the patient may have.
• Responsible for keeping accurate, up-to-date record of supplies on hand.
• Performs CLIA waived quality controls as needed.
• Patient interviews in a polite and courteous manner.
• Taking accurate vital signs which include, but are not limited to temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressures, height and weight. Must be able to enter efficiently into the computer system.
• Giving injections and performing venipuncture as needed.
• Screens and redirects telephone calls and walk-in visitors. Coordinates scheduling of appointments.
• Engages, promotes self care and provides encouragement to the patient.
• Assists in the collection of clinical data for Performance Improvement purposes.
• Assisting physicians during examinations and other patient related duties to ensure the safety and well being of patients in the practice.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma/GED And Over 1 year to 3 years Experience as a Medical Assistant or other healthcare professional meeting core competencies of the Medical Assistant profession (vital signs, EKGs, history and medication reconciliation) in a healthcare environment required OR

Vocational diploma, Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with no Medical Assistant experience
