Job Description


LER TechForce is looking for a Mechatronics Engineer to work in the Ann Arbor area. The role does require the person to go onsite 3 days a week into the office.


The MECHATRONICS ENGINEER will support advanced technology development for their integration into Business Units. Duties will include utilizing the latest technology and tools to develop E/E and SW architectures, benchmarking competitor vehicles and platforms for optimized solutions, ensuring the vehicle systems and components meet customers' expectations and regulatory requirements. The Mechatronics Engineer will provide build support and debugging.


This is a role for a mechatronics engineer who has demonstrated success in the development of Client and/or advanced technologies - commercial vehicle applications are of particular interest. Experience with alternative fuel or electric vehicle development and/or manufacturing highly desired.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • EE system and subsystem level simulation (e.g. HIL) and testing.
  • Support of a short- and long-term technology roadmap to ensure facilitation of technical requirements, concept prioritization and sharing across business units. Meet with the various business unit representatives to ensure good alignment with workplan.
  • Development of product documentation including specifications, architecture documents, schematics, BOM, control drawings, feasibility assessment, analysis and test reports within the procedures and requirements of a formal product development process.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance, DFMEA, DVP, and other gate deliverables throughout the gate review process.
  • Overall technology and E/E design, integration, and validation.
  • CAD (e.g. SolidWorks) for component packaging.
  • Support Electrical Engineering lead in liaising with E/E and SW suppliers and manufacturers including development, integration, productionization and validation planning.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience with Automotive SPICE framework and ISO 26262 standard.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of simple financial analyses in support of the development of the value proposition of candidate technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced technology development in collaboration with appropriate supply base.
  • Proficient user of Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow, C/C++, Java programming languages for embedded applications.
  • Ability to travel periodically to different Business Units.
  • 6-10 years of Automotive industry experience, or relevant experience from another industry.
  • Demonstrated hands on experience with coding and debugging using prototype hardware.
  • Automotive industry experience desired.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience making presentations and technical reports.
  • Experienced in software testing and validation.
  • Vehicle electrical integration experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with E/E Change Management activities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering, Master's Degree preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience making presentations and white papers.
  • Demonstrated experience with simulation analysis and reporting in support of technology assessments
  • Automotive industry experience with Commercial Vehicle applications.
  • Practical experience with Controller Area Network (CAN bus) and tools (Vector CANalyzer, etc.).
  • Ability to travel periodically to different Business Units.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
