DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

The ideal candidate will provide on-site maintenance support through continues optimization and inspections within the highly automated Steelmaking Facility including an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Ladle Metallurgy Furnace (LMF), RH Degasser, and Continuous Slab Caster to meet

the business goals of AM/NS Calvert.


The Basics:

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings/schematics
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, overhead cranes, cooling water circuits, and conveyor systems
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic and mechanical drawings to include P&ID's
  • Ability to perform “Hot-Work” – Burning, welding, grinding
  • 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial setting required

The Extras:

  • Experience in the steel industry preferred
  • Internship or Associates Degree preferred
  • Experience in the Steelmaking industry preferred
  • Experience operating mobile equipment preferred (aerial lifts, forklifts, mobile cranes)

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Project Execution and Start-up phase:

  • Perform mechanical early equipment reviews of OEM equipment
  • Assist in the development of energy control procedures and ensure they meet operational needs
  • Ensure HIRAC safety reviews are performed for maintenance procedures
  • Assist in the development of maintenance procedures prior to startup
  • Perform construction site safety walkthroughs

Operations phase:

  • Performs maintenance inspections and repairs including, but not limited to, mechanical components, water systems, belt and conveyor systems, mechanical drive systems, hydraulics systems, cranes, and baghouses within the Steelmaking Facility
  • Ensure proper safety, environmental, and quality of asset area(s)
  • Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects
  • Analysis, solving, and reporting of mechanical problems and failures

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Industrial/steelmaking mill environment
  • Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL
  • Construction site environment
  • People with heart pacemakers or any there electronic medical device are strictly prohibited from entering the furnace area. These devices include implanted pacemakers or implantable cardiac defibrillators where the device may be affected. Individuals identified to potentially work in EMF affected areas should identify the specific device they have as part of a medical history and manufacturer’s recommendations should be followed.
  • 24/7/365 operating facility; Shifts will vary depending on business needs
