Job Description

Salary Range: $41,377 - $50,259

Essential Functions and Objectives:

Administers and manages activities within a specific area of responsibility. Serves as the subject matter expert and applies gained knowledge to execute, maintain and improve systems, programs, or processes identify

students, determine needs and provide supports to eliminate barriers to increase academic success. Ensures district compliance and execution of the McKinney-Vento Act, Title IX of the Every Student Succeeds Act.

Oversee schools in an assigned region serving as a Program Specialist. Supports and coordinates services for students and families experiencing homelessness.

- Serves as one of the primary contacts between students and families experiencing homelessness, school staff, district personnel, shelter workers, and other service providers. Provides direct support to ensure enrollment of

children and youth and facilitate the equitable opportunity to engage in school.

- Identify students and track them through a variety of layers. Enroll students in, and have full and equal opportunity to succeed in school. Provide educational services and provisions to students for which they are eligible under

Title IX of ESSA (McKinney-Vento Act).

- Handle enrollment disputes, ensuring mediated in accordance with the requirements of Title IX of ESSA;

- Assist in obtaining school records, immunization and birth certificates for enrollment purposes. Informing parents/guardians, unaccompanied youth and school personnel of the rights of McKinney-Vento students through

professional development and training. Working with school staff to ensure that McKinney-Vento students are immediately enrolled in school pending disputes that might arise over school enrollment or placement;

- Help coordinate transportation services for McKinney-Vento children and youth.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- Three (3) or more years of experience in community development and family advocacy is required.

- Experience working with children and youth experiencing homelessness is required.

- Knowledge with Google Suite.

- Effective time management and organizational skills.

- Effective communication skills.

- Strong attention to detail.

- Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.

- The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.

- Work collaboratively with others on a team.

- Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast-paced environment.

- Bilingual in Spanish is required.

Education Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree in social work, human services, education or a related field preferred.
