HX5 is currently seeking a Researcher to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center. This is a temporary position (approximately 10 weeks) for the summer 2023.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop theoretical mathematical model of ignition criteria for Hydrothermal flames in super critical water oxidation and develop mathematical model for ignition criteria for subcritical fluid injection into a supercritical chamber. The model will provide insights gained by distilling a very complicated physical problem into a small set of physical parameters to establish the criteria for ignition to occur. It is expected that the proposed work will result in journal publications.

Required Skills:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills and experience with peer-reviewed journal publications.
• Post Ph.D. level with at least 15 years of experience in mathematical modeling.

Education/Experience:

• Ph.D. in Mathematics or Physics with 15 years of experience.

Other Position Requirements:

• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
