Job Description
Mighty Citizen is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes everyone to our team. We strongly encourage people of color, LGBTQ and non-binary people, veterans, parents, and individuals with disabilities to apply. If you need reasonable accommodation at any point in the application or interview process, please let us know.

About You:

You’re an enthusiast of all things data—and your analytical approach to everything you do yields valuable insights and informs strategy for greater success. Organization and processes are a part of your DNA, and you’ve never met a problem you didn’t want to dive into head first. Naturally curious, you see patterns and connections others miss.

The Marketing Operations Manager role focuses on helping to build, measure, optimize, and scale the marketing programs for Mighty Citizen. This is not a client-facing position, though you will be a “voice” of the agency. This is an internal-facing role within the agency. Additionally, as a new role, the Marketing Operations Manager will develop guidelines and best practices for the use of our CRM and marketing automation functions within the organization.

Demonstrated experience owning and running the governance of a marketing automation platform is highly desired. Advanced skills in a MAP/CRM is required, with Hubspot experience strongly preferred.

About Us:

Mighty Citizen is the branding, marketing, and digital agency for mission-driven organizations. We believe in thinking deeply, experimenting often, and hitting the mark every time. We help nonprofits, associations, universities, and government agencies more deeply connect with their audiences, increase their revenue and relevance, and improve their communities.

Location:
U.S. Remote or Austin, TX office
Base Salary: $65,000 - $75,000, dependent on experience

The Impact You’ll Make:

  • Maintain best-in-class standards to adhere to data privacy best practices, compliance, and accessibility standards.
  • Analyze data and reports, assess trends, and work with the marketing team to determine the actions for optimizing performance on campaigns.
  • Create a set of marketing automation and data integrity processes, guidelines, and protocols to be followed by the sales and marketing team.
  • Set up and distribute marketing and sales campaigns, including emails, landing pages, workflows, A/B testing, list segmentation, etc.
  • Own Mighty Citizen’s CRM and marketing automation platform (Hubspot) and ensure it’s operating at peak efficiency to support the organization’s growth goals.
  • Regularly audit and identify opportunities to enhance our marketing programs and processes.
  • Manage relationships with data or other technology providers.
  • Support marketing and sales revenue goals by maintaining our lead management process, including lifecycle stages, lead scoring, and workflows.
  • Troubleshoot errors in HubSpot and manage all requests for updating or creating accounts, companies, workflows, and properties.
  • Use data to strategize and make recommendations with the marketing team.
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards in HubSpot and Excel/Google Sheets to best measure campaign and overall goal performance.
  • Other tasks as necessary to make you and the company more successful.
  • Manage CRM database integrity best practices, including importing and exporting contacts.
  • Train Mighty Citizen staff on using Hubspot as needed.
  • Maintain and improve our marketing tech stack. Regularly review and recommend new marketing technologies and integrations for greater efficiency.

Expectations:

Unless specifically noted, not every expectation is required to be qualified for this role. We are looking for a combination of this skill set. If you have many of these skills but not all of them, please feel free to apply.

  • Advanced to expert-level skills of a MAP/CRM required—Hubspot experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in overall marketing operations and strategy, including the demand funnel, lead management, target account segmentation, lead scoring, revenue attribution, etc.
  • Technically savvy with a desire to document and improve processes.
  • Knowledge and experience with complex functions in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Experience with data structure and data hygiene best practices.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics. We have other team members that manage this, so while expert-level understanding isn’t necessary, you should understand what reporting and capabilities are available and how to use the data to inform decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and running the governance of a large marketing automation platform.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to quickly identify and correct errors to improve efficiency and performance.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (WordPress, Craft, etc.), as well as common productivity tools (Microsoft Office, Google Drive, project management systems, etc.), preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of B2B or internal marketing operations/analytics experience. Experience working with associations, nonprofits, higher education, or government agencies is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to manage time and projects effectively with a focus on the details and minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of GDPR regulations and other data privacy best practices.

Desired Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills, able to draw insights and intelligence from marketing data.
  • A history of successfully managing multiple duties in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Willing to take responsibility and share ideas for the improvement of agency work.
  • A positive attitude with team members and customers.
  • Natural curiosity with an affinity for problem-solving.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to tactfully deliver and accept honest criticism.
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to jump in on any task and help the team when needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills that lead to high efficiency.

Our Hiring Process:

We want our hiring process to be fair, equitable, and positive for all candidates. And we want to have a great hire at the end of it! Typically, it takes a final candidate 4-8 weeks to complete our hiring process. In today’s market, we know that is slower than most companies, but it’s important that we all come out better for it in the end. Here’s a look at the general timing of our hiring process:

  • 2-3 business weeks: Collect resumes
  • 1-2 business weeks: Virtual interview (60 minutes) with 3-5 candidates
  • 1-2 business weeks: Third, and likely final, virtual interview (60 minutes) with 2 candidates
  • 1 business week: Check references, official offer, and negotiation
  • 1 business week: Initial phone interviews (30 minutes) with 5-10 candidates
