Position Summary Information

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Campus Recreation provides a diverse and intentional recreational program in a safe, inclusive, and accessible environment which enhances the social, mental, and physical well-being of the entire University community. With this mission as the focus, Campus Recreation’s program offerings include intramural sports, aquatics, sport clubs, fitness and wellness, expeditions, challenge course, open recreation, special events, climbing sports, adaptive sports, and well-being outreach.

Position Summary
The Marketing and Engagement Coordinator assists the Senior Assistant Director of Marketing, Communication and External Relations in promoting and marketing all Campus Recreation services including programs and events, as well as all Campus Recreation facilities and schedules. This position is primarily responsible for the student marketing staff hiring, scheduling and development. The purpose of this position is to directly interact with students and enhance their experience by showing the many ways Tar Heels Stay Active with Campus Recreation by overseeing content creation for all the social media platforms. The Marketing and Engagement Coordinator develops and delivers promotional and informational materials through a variety of communication channels to engage and bring awareness to Campus Recreation activities and services. This position assists with the graphic design and branding needs for the department. The Marketing and Engagement Coordinator will also lead and manage all efforts in outreach through engagement/tabling planning and execution.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Professional experience in marketing.
Strong leadership skills and ability to self-manage.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills, analytical, and organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with large and diverse audiences in addition to one-on-one encounters.
Experience with web content management systems.
Experience with email management systems.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere Pro.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in marketing, public relations, communications, media management or related field
Higher Education professional working experience in marketing.
Ability to provide motivational leadership and supervision of student staff.
Ability and willingness to promote collaborative work environment and build relationships with departmental staff and campus colleagues.
