Job Description

Market Garden Assistant

Apricot Lane Farms is a 234-acre farm integrated within a reawakened ecosystem. With a team that
makes the seemingly impossible possible, the farm regeneratively grows more than 200 varieties of
fruits and vegetables, and raises sheep, cows, pigs, chickens and ducks with care and respect, while
working in harmony (or a comfortable level of disharmony) within a dynamic ecosystem. Under the
direction of the Garden Manager and Garden Coordinator, the Market Garden Assistant addresses
the needs of the Apricot Lane Farms market garden while striving to maintain the principles of
Biodynamic and Regenerative Organic Farming.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Greenhouse seedling care
  • Irrigation
  • Bed preparation and maintenance using trowels, pruners, loppers, rakes, hoes, shovels,
  • Hand-weeding
  • Harvest of a variety of crops
forks, and a rototiller
  • Collaborative planning and problem solving with the garden team and other departments
  • Infrastructure maintenance and repair, especially irrigation systems
  • Soil and foliar compost and nutritional input application
  • Detailed record-keeping of garden plantings, bed turns, inputs and seed orders
  • Pest management and disease monitoring
QUALIFICATION & SKILLS
Preferred minimum 2 years market garden or small-scale vegetable farming experience
  • High school diploma
  • Demonstrates a keen interest in regenerative agriculture
  • Able and willing to:

o Interact with all levels of guests, management, and staff
o Work cooperatively and efficiently in a team environment
o Work well independently with minimal oversight
o Walk up hilly and steep terrain daily
o Bend, stoop and kneel for long periods of time
o Work outside in a variety of extreme weather conditions, including rain, cold, heat,

and wind
o Lift and carry a minimum of 35 pounds with and/or without assistance

  • Able to work M-F; 6:30am – 3:00pm
COMPENSATION + BENEFITS
Pay starts at $20 - $$22.00/hr. (DoE).
