Job Description
Carpenter’s Latrobe Specialty Metals operations, based in Latrobe, Pa., manufacture high-performance specialty alloys serving aerospace, energy, and other demanding markets. Carpenter acquired Latrobe in 2012 to increase capacity to meet strong customer demand and to broaden the company’s product mix. Manufacturing Supervisor
PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Actively promote all company policies and expectations, especially in support of safety plans and results.
  • Maintain a positive work environment by regularly communicating with employees on the shop floor and respond to employee issues and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Provide production employees with guidance, direction, and supervision in support of departmental operations.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain well-organized and productive work areas.
  • Plan and schedule operations within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Work with others to achieve department and company goals and objectives.
  • Promptly address performance issues.
REQUIREMENTS for the Manufacturing Supervisor
  • Knowledge of disciplined problem-solving methods.
  • Ability to direct and supervise others, objectively evaluate performance, and train and develop others.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekend work and shift work
  • Two year college degree preferred. High school diploma required.
  • Problem solving and project management skills.
  • Practical understanding of industrial/manufacturing principles, standards, methods, and practices.
  • Ability to work in a production-oriented environment.
  • Minimum two years supervisory experience in a manufacturing/operational environment or equivalent demonstrated experience as determined by department management.
PREFERRED for the Manufacturing Supervisor
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, well organized and the ability to prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
  • Willing to work in a fast paced, every changing work environment.
