Job Description
The Role, At a Glance
Biamp is seeking a skilled and experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the Manufacturing Engineering department for our Cascade Production Facility. As the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of Manufacturing and Process Engineers and Technicians, as well as the Facility Maintenance team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes, driving efficiency, maintaining high-quality standards, and serving as an active staff member defining and implementing the operations strategy for Biamp worldwide.
How You'll Contribute
  • Serve as an active member of the Operations Staff to define and implement Operations strategy worldwide, in alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the company.
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance to Engineers, Technicians, and Facility Maintenance team by setting clear goals and performance expectations, and providing regular coaching and feedback.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Planning, Production, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain, to develop and implement manufacturing strategies and process improvements.
  • Lead yield improvement projects across the facility, analyzing data and implementing corrective actions to enhance throughput, product quality, and product reliability and minimize production costs.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks that could impact manufacturing operations, product quality, or delivery schedules. This could include maintaining adequate process capacity, implementing appropriate quality control measures, contingency plans, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and manage the manufacturing engineering and maintenance budgets, ensuring effective utilization of resources and alignment with business objectives.
  • Establish performance metrics and reporting mechanisms to track key manufacturing engineering KPIs.
  • Lead and support Engineers in troubleshooting and resolving complex manufacturing issues, utilizing root cause analysis techniques to identify underlying causes.
  • Drive initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce waste, increase productivity, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Continuously assess staffing requirements and provide recommendations for hiring, training, and development of the Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance teams.
  • Identify equipment and tooling needs, and collaborate with procurement and maintenance teams to ensure timely availability and maintenance of manufacturing assets.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on engineering best practices, process validation, and equipment selection.

  • Staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements to drive continuous improvement within the operations function.
  • Championing root cause problem-solving methodologies to identify and address production issues, ensuring minimal impact on yield and delivery schedules.
  • Fostering a collaborative and productive work environment, promoting teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.
A Successful Candidate Should Have
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a data-driven approach.
  • Demonstrated track record of driving yield improvement projects and optimizing manufacturing processes.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience acting as the Operations representative to product development teams working on the development of high tech electro-mechanical devices and subassemblies
  • Proven experience (6+ years) in a manufacturing engineering environment within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence stakeholders at various levels.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies, with a focus on root cause analysis and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in using manufacturing software, ERP systems, and CAD software.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing and motivating high-performing teams.
Work Environment
  • This is an onsite position based in Tigard, OR.
  • The Cascade Production team operates both morning and evening shifts, seven day a week. This position supports a team working across all these various shifts.
  • Intermittent travel, up to 20%. Attend occasional offsite Operations staff meetings and visit various Biamp sites and suppliers. The vast majority of travel is domestic.
  • Ability to lift and carry light loads up to 50 lbs.
