About The Job
Pacers Running is looking for an enthusiastic, collaborative, and creative leader that will own the success of our local marketing activities in the greater DC region. This leader will work across multiple departments to support our local retail stores and staff as well as handle all marketing, both digital and grassroots, for growing our Pacers Events division (DC Half, Parkway Classic, Jingle All the Way). Additionally, the candidate should be well versed in content creation and working with influencers and content creators. As retail and event marketing requires a lot of hands-on work, this leader should be enthusiastic about attending several community events, visiting stores on a regular basis, and maintaining relationships with key partners and influencers in DC.
Success will be measured by the growth of our races (registrations), increased traffic to our retail stores, and increased engagement on our social media channels. Success will also be measured in how well this leader is able to work collaboratively with the Retail and Community teams. The candidate must have a passion for getting outside the office and being in the field regularly to ensure the Pacers' brand is putting its best foot forward on all things local. This role is not work from home. Frequent in-person interacting with other teams, store managers, key partners and influencers, as well as Pacers leadership is a must.
Responsibilities
Own all aspects of Pacers Events marketing from planning to execution including:
  • Attending weekly Pacers Events meetings and reporting on upcoming marketing activities.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date communications calendar that is visible to all teams at Pacers.
  • Creating communications for time sensitive deadlines such as price increases, registration launches, special promotions, etc.
  • Working onsite during race weekend to support social comms (answering questions, posting race updates, etc) and generating content to capture the vibe and feel of race day.
  • Managing Pacers Events social media channels from content creation to engagement with followers.
  • Planning and sending all email communications.
  • Working with the Director of Event Experiences to ensure partnerships and sponsorships are supported and that all marketing deliverables are met.
Oversee All Retail Marketing Components Including
  • Coming up with strategies and executing plans to drive more traffic into stores with the goal of increasing sales.
  • Meeting with store managers regularly to identify store needs and to communicate upcoming marketing campaigns and promotions.
  • Ensuring store collateral (business cards, promotional postcards, store signs, bags etc) are up to date.
  • Ensuring retail store pages are up to date and updating the website with any special hours, both planned and unplanned.
  • Delivering promotional materials to stores when needed.
  • Creating coupons and incentives for local shoppers to shop at Pacers.
  • Acting as a liaison between the Marketing team and the Retail team so that there is always clear communication and coordination.
Collaborate And Support The Pacers Community Team Including
  • Perform other duties as required by leadership.
  • Attend all high priority Community events to capture content and provide support to the Community and Retail teams.
  • Attend the monthly in-person Pacers Community team meeting.
  • Update and maintain the Social Runs web page at the direction of the Community Team.
  • Regularly attend Pacers group runs or recurring Community events at least 2X per month.
  • Support the Marketing team’s content creation by generating a high volume of engaging “lo-fi” content for social media with a specific emphasis on vertical video format (Instagram reels, stories, TikTok etc). Content can include capturing the spirit of Pacers Community events for the main Pacers social channel, going “behind the scenes” with store staff, reviews, tips, education, influencer collabs, and any other types of content that will create a stronger affinity and connection with the Pacers brand and increase engagement.
  • Help the Community team as-needed with preparing promotional graphics, website updates, and any additional content needs they may have.
Qualifications
  • Well versed in TikTok, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Well versed in mobile video creation and editing.
  • Experience working with project management software is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, community marketing, retail management, or content creation.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and balancing priorities.
Requirements
  • Work the retail floor during critical staff shortages, key store events (i.e. packet pick ups) and blackout dates.
  • Work out of the Pacers Clarendon office a minimum 3X per week.
  • Located in the greater DC area (or willing to relocate) and able to travel to Pacers retail stores and event locations on a regular basis.

  • BA or BS degree preferred.
