Responsibilities


This key position manages the business processes of the outpatient practices of Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) and works collaboratively with the clinical leaders of these practices to ensure that patient care services are rendered in a timely manner and in compliance with hospital policies and applicable regulatory requirements.


The business processes managed by this position include budgeting, financial analysis, revenue cycle, planning, process engineering and improvement, personnel management, provider and allied health staff recruitment, and facilities management.


This position reports to the BNI Chief Operating Officer, and works cooperatively with the BNI Chief Medical Officer, the BNI Director of Physician Practice Business Operations, the BNI Marketing Director, and the BNI Finance Manager.


Job Standards:

  • Presents practice issues and needs to institutional leaders and governance committees as needed, and participates as indicated in community outreach and community organizations that align with BNI patient populations.
  • Supervises allied health staff or assists the lead provider in supervising allied health staff by managing time & attendance, employee recruitment, employee performance, and employee development.
  • Partners with the lead provider in managing patient access and ensuring that patient care services are rendered in a timely manner. Assists the lead provider in managing provider performance. Assists the lead provider in managing provider recruitment. Partners with the lead provider in managing patient satisfaction, patient complaints, and risk management issues. Assists the lead provider in managing education and research activities.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable policies and regulatory requirements, including ADHS, DES, CMS, and JCAHO. Participates in preparing and analyzing data for quality assurance and utilization reviews.
  • Facilitates and provides process engineering and improvement activities.
  • Manages the physical environment and coordinates facilities projects.
  • Manages financial performance by optimizing the practice revenue cycle, managing and monitoring relationships with third party payers, ensuring that all providers are appropriately credentialed with managed care plans, developing operating and capital budgets, monitoring and analyzing financial performance, and monitoring provider compensation plans.
  • Facilitates planning and business development activities.

Qualifications

Minimum:
  • Bachelors degree or a combination of education and/or additional job related experience in lieu of the degree.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience.
Special Skills Required:
  • Ability to work effectively with physicians and clinical psychologists. Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex information and processes to a variety of audiences. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively navigate a matrix organizational structure.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
  • Experience with an outpatient EMR.
  • Oncology Nursing background.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace.
  • Master's Degree.
