Job Summary/General Description


The Manager of Community Outreach & Impact will play an integral role in the bringing the Social Impact & Equity and Cavaliers Community Foundation mission statements to life throughout Northeast Ohio through a commitment to education, community outreach, utilizing the game of basketball to create positive change and aiding the Cavaliers in making a positive impact on the lives of children and young adults throughout Northeast Ohio.


Duties And Responsibilities


  • Develops, coordinates, and executes core needs programs within the community including the teams “Safe Spaces” pillar, focusing on creating a supportive, safe and equitable environment for youth within the city.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Shares responsibilities in the implementation of team’s community impact programs and initiatives.
  • Acts as the point of contact with the NBA League Office regarding Cavs Community Relations efforts and assumes responsibility for implementing League initiatives in the Northeast Ohio community.
  • Manages the relationships with external organizations that are looking to form partnerships with the Community Impact Team and/or seek funding from the Cavaliers Community Foundation. (Example: My Brothers Keeper, Boys & Girls Clubs etc.)
  • Assists in the execution of programs such as “Hoops after Dark”, Conversations for Change, Community Basketball Rec Center Tours, Recreation center programming, and agency partner activation and more.
  • Collaborates with the different teams and team members within the organization to provide opportunities to connect with the community in ways that align with the Social Impact and Cavaliers Community Foundation mission statements.


Qualifications And Skills


  • The ability and proven track record to multi-task and work in a faced-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively along with the confidence to introduce new perspectives and approaches to various programs and events.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with great attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • 3 years of prior work experience in social responsibility, community relations, foundation or nonprofit role, and having a sports/basketball background is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experiencing in interacting with a wide variety of people, especially when interacting with external individuals and/or organizations.
