Manager, Manufacturing Sciences - Deviation Investigations

Summary:

Leads the group responsible for investigating deviations. Ensures that all quality records are processed through to closure in a timly manner. Works closely with the Quality Assurance team to manage cutomer expectations. Tracks quality metrics in an effort to continuous improve processes, work-flow and response times. Must work well with personnel at all levels of the organization

Essential Functions:
  • Ensures the rapid response times. Assures that processes are safe, reproducible and cost effective. Look for ways to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Complies with all job related safety and other training requirements including maintaining current training.
  • Recruit, hire, retain, train, and motivate a scientifically competent staff. Provide opportunities for staff career development.
  • Provides leadership to assigned staff by performing the following: leading organizational change; developing and empowering staff; cultivating relationships; putting staff in a position to succeed, meeting their personal career goals while also achieving organizational goals; building effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals; driving engagement and creating a climate where staff are motivated to do their best.
  • Defines resource needs (capital, expense, and headcount) so that current and future development needs are met. Recruits, hires, retains, trains, and motivates a scientifically competent staff. Provides opportunities for staff career development.

Job Scope:

Leads a group of scientists and investigators that support thew timely closure of quality records. Work to develop the staff's career path. Support other Company programs; safety, growth, commercial.

Education and Experience Requirements:

BS/BA with 5 years relevant experience OR

MS with 3 years relevant experience OR

Ph.D. with 1 years relevant experience

Experience:

At least five years of relevant experience is preferred.

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Competencies:
  • Very high degree of interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public, including tact to handle sensitive matters. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and lead a professional staff team in order to achieve goals, evaluate and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Ability to motivate, energize, and retain key staff by direct interactions with supervisors and staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment under pressure, able to multi-task and is results driven.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Self-starter, mature, independent and dependable.
  • Must have a broad based knowledge of quaility systems and regulatory requirements and a general knowlege relative to Pharmaceuticl drug product manufacturing.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with a variety of concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills. Requires discretion and independent judgment.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 20-50 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time.
