Summary

The Opportunity

Hyatt seeks a self-motivated senior accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team. Responsibilities include general oversight of assigned processes within the Hyatt monthly and quarterly close process. This includes preparation and review of journal entries, monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations as well as financial statement analytics across all Hyatt entities. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the enhancement of internal controls and participating in special projects that incorporate a wide range of accounting exposure. Who You Are

The Role

  • Review of statutory financial statement
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, analytics, and other work assigned to and prepared by senior accountants.
  • Manage a team of up to four staff and senior accountants
  • Involvement in multiple processes including cash, debt, account payable, intercompany, leases, marketable securities, financing receivables, and other areas within the Corporate Accounting department.
  • Assist with the optimization of accounting procedures and special projects, as required, including oversight of process improvement and journal entry automation.
  • Fielding and resolving inquiries from management, other departments within Hyatt, and external auditors.
  • Contribute to compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, including documentation of process areas and testing of key controls.
  • Significant interaction with the business units, and external auditors throughout the course of a month/year.
  • Reviewing quarterly schedules for external reporting.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Hyatt’s core values.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or another equivalent business/financial role
  • Ability and willingness to work and learn in a fast-paced corporate environment for a publicly traded company
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office

Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Optional: Certified Public Accountant
  • Financial ERP systems (Oracle, Hyperion)
