This role is part of the Controllership - Southeast hub which supports internal stakeholders within the Design and Construction sector. The primary client is Corporate Real Estate (CRE) which manages internal real estate investments.

The Manager works closely with CRE leadership to manage all aspects of project controls and business operations for Design and Delivery, and Recurring Capital using standardized project control methodology. Leads team and participates in supporting project managers and stakeholders to achieve business and project goals, including managing and overseeing budgets, process improvement, and financial controls for CRE’s capital projects and facility operations.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Establish and oversee the cost control and reporting program and deliverables for CRE’s capital projects.
  • Train and coach Project Controls staff, while providing leadership in analyzing project reporting. Present findings to CRE leadership, and provide recommendations to the project management team and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the auditing and processing of project-related invoices.
  • Participate in weekly/monthly budget reviews with project managers and business-unit Finance partners.
  • Serve as a liaison and/or resource between project managers and finance/accounting teams.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to project stakeholders, providing guidance for individual projects.
  • Ensure all project PO’s and change orders are raised when required, while partnering with the PMs and Strategic Sourcing partners to improve the efficiency of the PO request and approval process.
  • Prepare, review, and monitor project data to identify monthly budget variances, spend-to-date, and other business metrics.
  • Develop processes and standards to help streamline the overall operations of CRE’s Design & Delivery and Facilities business activities.
  • Manage quarterly accrual process and capital spend forecast reporting.
  • Consolidate, review, and analyze project cost and status updates for monthly Jobs in Progress (JIP) reports and meetings.
  • Manage overall initiation of project and budget set-up through to closure with various stakeholders (CRE’s D&D, Operations, BU’s, Finance, Controllership, etc.).
  • Implement operating policies to mitigate risk.
  • Partner with project managers to manage schedule- and cost-change impacts on project in-service dates (ISDs) and estimated final costs (EFCs).

Provide ad hoc business reporting, as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be an excellent team player who possesses solid interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must possess strong quantitative and analytical skills combined with solid business and financial acumen
  • 5 years relevant accounting experience; minimum 3 years accounting experience plus 2 years of management experience
  • High energy level; strong work ethic
  • Flexible, “special-projects” orientation coupled with solid multi-tasking abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Exhibit a willingness to be adaptable and flexible, and demonstrate a desire to operate in a dynamic environment
  • Strong relationship building skills and a highly professional “client service orientation”
  • Demonstrated track record of identification of process improvements and desire to implement best practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of internal controls, control environments, and accounting systems (SAP preferred)
  • Must be able to interact with and influence all levels of management within and outside Controllership
  • Charismatic, dynamic leader and effective manager, who leads by example and will mentor a diverse team to meet Controllership objectives and to participate in Controllership projects and events
