Position Information

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Shuford Program in Entrepreneurship teaches students from diverse backgrounds and with different interests to view the world through an entrepreneurial lens and to think and act entrepreneurially in product-design, tech creations, and intrapreneurship. Students who are a part of this community and complete the academic course requirements for the Minor in Entrepreneurship will have a unique skill set that will make them competitive in the 21st-century job market.

Position Summary
This position is located in the Entrepreneurship Department within the College of Arts and Sciences. The person in this position will spend their time in activities related to the Minor in Entrepreneurship. They will be responsible for classroom teaching (specifically ECON 325, The Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship, and possibly ECON 125, Introduction to Entrepreneurship), curriculum development and office hours in the Shuford Program in Entrepreneurship. They will also be expected to develop new and help manage existing programs that enrich the student experience and the UNC Innovation and Entrepreneurship ecosystem as a whole. Additionally, this person will mentor student startups, assist in career development and support, and develop Research Triangle community partnerships. The professor of the practice and Entrepreneur in Residence will serve as an educator, advisor and collaborator within the Shuford Entrepreneurship Program. Specifically, this position collaborates with the instructor of record for ECON 125 introducing students to the theory of entrepreneurship. They also consult with other Entrepreneurship classes on an as-needed basis. This position mentors students one-on-one, and holds regular office hours on campus. The person in this position will assist to leverage the resources and expertise of other entrepreneurial thought leaders at UNC and in the Triangle community to advertise and assist the Entrepreneurship Program.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Applicant must have MBA, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and be able to present Economics and Finance concepts to students in the College of Arts and Sciences. Experience providing oversight and leadership to students is vital, particularly in entrepreneurial ventures. Must have served as an instructor in a higher education setting. Must have experience in instruction as well as supervision of venture capital and private equity funds.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Expertise in teaching about private equity placement for an undergraduate audience.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
