Job Summary

The Major Gift Officer plays an important role in Charitable Giving by securing gifts of $25,000 and above annually from individual private donors that enable CRS and Charitable Giving to achieve their strategic priorities.

CRS will successfully conclude the solicitation phase of its first-ever targeted Leadership Giving campaign, Go FAR: The Campaign for Catholic Relief Services in September 2023. A priority for the Major Gift Officer will be securing Leadership Giving level gifts for remaining campaign priorities and emerging needs identified by the Agency. Using data-informed holistic engagement strategies that deepen existing relationships with CRS, the RDD will also raise funds for post-campaign strategic agency priorities that further develop and strengthen donor and board pipelines to elevate and sustain future revenue generated by Leadership Giving.

In alignment with CRS’ One Agency strategic vision for engaging U.S. constituents and Charitable Giving’s Action Plan to increase donor engagement, maximize private revenue, and expand CRS’ reach across the United States, the Major Gift Officer will also collaborate closely with colleagues in Charitable Giving, especially in Leadership Giving and Analytics, and with key partners across other U.S facing divisions to engage Catholic donors in key cities in the Chicago area to achieve these priorities. The Major Gift Officer facilitates CRS communications between donors and these CRS stakeholders as appropriate. This position reports to the Director of Development, Leadership Giving.
