Job Description

Department
Our dynamic Development Department is responsible for raising $685 million annually to support the mission of the organization. The Major Gifts unit is responsible for managing relationships with 3,000 individuals giving over $25,000 in a 24-month period and raised $116M in 2022.
Project
The Major Gifts Assistant plays a critical role in the complex and varied relationship management that defines the Major Gifts unit. Under the direction of the Director of Major Gifts, they works across the team to support with gift processing, data input, creative materials, administrative tasks, and more.
Tasks
  • Manage stationary inventory and order supplies
  • Provide administrative support to Major Gifts Associate with data hygiene for mailings. Provide back up support with gift processing and acknowledgment process during peak times and vacation
  • Provide content and administrative support including writing thank you scripts, proof-reading mailings and drafting proposals, identifying program updates, and event logistics
  • Contributes to the generation of the Major Gifts Annual Plan
  • Support donor data administration for the major gifts team, including but not limited to: creating and updating individual donor records, merging duplicate accounts, correspondence between donors and senior staff
  • Provides general administrative support to Director of Major Gifts and the Director of Philanthropy
  • Assist with the development, documentation and update of Major Gifts best practices and procedures
  • Supports other miscellaneous projects as assigned
  • Execute gift reports from CRM to ensure relationship managers thank donors in a timely manner
  • Creates, edits and updates talking points for new and existing MSF projects and campaigns for relationship managers
Qualifications
Required
  • Responsible, driven, and able to work independently with guidance from manager or other staff.
  • Familiarity with and commitment to the work of Doctors Without Borders
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to do repetitive tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, copy-editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to distill important information.
  • Project management skills-- can carry a small project from beginning to end, think through possible obstacles, and proactively seek solutions.
  • Can-do attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Digitally literate with advanced computer skills of Microsoft Office
  • Previous administrative experience.
Preferred
  • Experience with CRM such as NPSP
Expected to work in a hybrid work environment with the ability to come into either the NYC office or regional hub (Washington, DC or Bay Area, CA) a minimum of 2 times a week.
