Job Description
Marine Spill Response Corporation is a not-for-profit, U.S. Coast Guard Classified Oil Spill Removal Organization. MSRC was formed in 1990 to offer oil spill response services and mitigate damage to the environment. MSRC offers a full range of oil spill response capabilities intended to help meet the planning criteria of the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.


MSRC is offering an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Responder with marine experience who is ready to start their career with the leader in the oil spill response industry. We are seeking a qualified individual who can perform preventative and corrective maintenance on response equipment and provide support in all phases of oil spill response equipment operation, deployment, retrieval, cleaning and storage. MSRC offers excellent benefits including medical, dental, and optical insurance plans as well as a matching 401k. Position is based in Concord, CA with an opportunity to travel.


Job Type: Full Time


Salary Range: $23.50 to $28.11


Qualifications


  • Successful background check, drug screen and pre-hire medical exam
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Possess or ability to obtain a TWIC card and Passport, US Coast Guard MMC and complete the 40 Hour HAZWOPER training (provided upon hire)
  • Ability to travel as needed, including oil spill/drill responses as described above.
  • High School Diploma, or GED equivalent.


Responsibilities


  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Complete and submit (manually and electronically) appropriate paper work and reports properly and timely as required including; time records, maintenance, and safety reports.
  • Applicable technical trade school is a plus.
  • Work effectively in team environment and provide support and assistance.
  • Deploying, retrieval, and processing of boom and sorbent materials.
  • Assist in various types of oil spill clean-up activities as needed.
  • Ability to operate equipment in accordance with all policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure safe and productive work experiences.
  • Must have strong hands on experience with vessel maintenance.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and complete basic repairs of small diesel and gas engines.
  • Because of the emergency response and operational nature of the position, a continuing condition of employment is that the applicant/candidate acknowledges to respond on possible spills during weekends and holidays.
  • Conducts preventative and corrective maintenance on all equipment.
  • Must be familiar with basic hydraulics and AC/DC power distribution systems.
  • Familiarity with USCG vessel inspection process is a plus.
  • Must possess basic stick/MIG welding, and fabrication skills.
  • Availability to report to assigned work site location within a 2-hour/4-hour recall rotational schedule in the even of an oil spill response.


Physical Requirements


  • Able to work in various temperatures both indoors and outdoors and in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain or dry environments.
  • Ability to perform work in various sea conditions, under all environmental conditions, often wet/oily decks.
  • Requires the ability to wear personnel protective equipment as prescribed by posted signs and written instruction.
  • Requires standing, and lifting up to 45 lbs.
