Maintenance Technician Level 1


Full Time, Wage $15.50-16.75/hr


Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To


Maintenance Technician Level 1 is responsible for performing a variety of skilled mechanical and other maintenance repair and construction related tasks. The work to be performed includes tasks in carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, heating, electrical, appliance maintenance, and lawn care and snow removal.
  • Relocation of furniture and set-up of media devices
  • Loading and unloading of equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Cabinets, shelves, doors, windows, screens, and locksets
  • Perform installation, service, and repair of:
  • Perform periodic inspections of buildings and grounds.
  • Plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, water heaters, and drain lines.
  • Electro/Mechanical Equipment
  • Commercial/residential electrical wiring, phone, and communications wiring
  • Prepare surfaces and paint exterior and interior of buildings, structures, and equipment.
  • Heating and air conditioning units.
  • Responsible for maintaining records and entering data related to maintenance activity for repairs and material acquisition
  • Perform general grounds maintenance activities including snow removal and other lawn care tasks.
  • With minimal assistance, able to respond to issues and make proper repairs for common and repetitive type malfunctions.
  • Identify and repair mechanical and structural deficiencies, which conform to Life Safety Code and NYS Building Codes. Reports those items to management that involve a more in-depth level of repair.

Special Additional Requirements


  • Ability to lift heavy materials/equipment with a minimum of 50 pounds. Position is physically demanding with tasks that include heavy lifting, bending, climbing, reaching and repetitive motion.
  • Working knowledge of building operations, maintenance and repair procedures, i.e., carpentry, electrical, plumbing, building, heating, air conditioning ventilation, construction principles and grounds keeping.
  • Must provide tools of the trade customarily used in the major trades.
  • Demonstrates a basic knowledgeable for the control and operation of HVAC equipment. Technician is able to make repairs of common malfunctions and replacement of simple parts (fuse, belts, thermostats, thermocouple, etc.).
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge for the requirements of NYS Building Code and NFPA Life Safety Code.
  • Must be competent in the use of power tools, hand tools, operation of motorized equipment, trailers, and vehicles.

Requirements


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • 2 years experience preferred
  • Covd Vaccine OR approved medical or religious exemption
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A driver’s license and good driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier.
