The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for keeping the equipment in good operating condition by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, removing technical issues, and performing emergency repairs. Collective Bargaining Agreement language applies to this position.
What needs to be done?

• Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep/report maintenance records.
• Must have manual dexterity, color vision, and no fear of confined areas.
• Inspects and services or repairs equipment such as booths for painting, grit blasting, parts cleaning, or parts inspecting; plant sprinkler systems, steam lines, cranes, compressors, hoists, boilers, air conditioners, cables, all lift tables, coolant systems and related equipment, etc.
• Performs a wide variety of maintenance and repair duties in order to keep machine tools, equipment, structures, and grounds in good repair. Duties require a working knowledge of such trade areas as machine repair, machine tool operator, carpentry, welding, plumbing, sheet metal, etc., sufficient to deal with general repairs.
• Performs incidental duties pertaining to the classification, as required.
• Will be required to work in cramped, noisy, and elevated areas exceeding 30 feet.
• Operates coolant system, and related equipment to remove the dirty coolant from machine tools. Supplies new or reclaimed coolant to these same machines. Maintains an adequate level of new and reclaimed coolant to supply the systems make-up tank. Checks the coolant/water mixture and makes necessary adjustments to maintain proper concentration. Conducts scheduled major cleaning of machine tools and coolant systems.
• Operates all Roots equipment, as well as performing duties normally performed by other classifications such as minor unwiring/wiring of motors, pumps, and conveyors, etc. when necessary in order to perform job duties.
• Observes plant rules and safe working practices.
• May be required to perform major repairs on machine tools, boilers, cranes, underground piping, etc., and cutting work.
• Maintains clean and orderly work and equipment/materials storage areas.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Open to any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
• Journeyman card, or four years documented experience in Machine Repair, or Machine Tool Maintenance & Repair Technical Certificate
