About the Position

Join the First Transit team as Fleet Maintenance Manager in the Greater Chicago area. The Maintenance Manager will supervise the maintenance and repair of buses and support vehicles to contract requirements. We hire individuals who make safety and customer service their top priorities. We are looking for you if you have the drive, confidence, and determination to succeed!

  • Schedules and administers fleet maintenance and assists in troubleshooting problems with vehicles and equipment.
  • Communicates availability of vehicles for service with dispatchers and the operations department.
  • In relation to subordinates, is responsible for employment decisions, training, and development; planning and directing the work; disciplining; handling employee complaints or grievances; and handling performance reviews.

Qualifications

  • Technical training preferred
  • Experience maintaining a fleet of 70 or more buses
  • Subject to DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
  • Completion of Automotive Service Excellence certification (ASE) of (A1-A9, H8) or equivalent manufacturer training and certifications related to Pace vehicle operations is preferred but not required.
  • Valid IL CDL B w/Passenger endorsement
  • 5 years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience
  • Experience with Eldorado or equivalent paratransit or fixed-route buses
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining a qualified maintenance program
