Maintenance Manager

Position Overview

OMG currently operates in two Divisions: OMG Roofing Products and FastenMaster®. OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry. The FastenMaster Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier. Our Maintenance team utilizes leading innovation, continuous improvement, and strong people development tools to meet the demands placed on our business. The Maintenance Manager drives the efficiency and effectiveness of our production equipment and maintenance teams with continuous improvement, the latest technology, and strong workforce recruitment and retention. This key position will work with the supervisor and group leaders to manage the day-to-day operation of our maintenance team, while also supporting the development and implementation of our overall Operations strategic plans tied to safety, production, quality, continuous improvement, and cost. The Maintenance Manager has strong leadership skills, an advanced understanding of lean manufacturing as a tool to improve performance, and the ability to develop others.

Position Responsibilities

  • Ensure maintenance resources are properly trained, staffed, and managed across three-shift operations to meet manufacturing, finishing, stamping, and warehouse expectations for equipment and support services.
  • Lead construction projects, remodels, and other special projects.
  • Promote the use of lean tools to achieve efficient and cost-effective production, promoting communication, shared learning, creative problem solving, and team accountability.
  • Perform other tasks as required.
  • Monitor and analyze the computerized maintenance management system for effectiveness and continuous improvement.
  • Drive manufacturing and maintenance teams to achieve production, quality, continuous improvement, and cost goals.
  • Develop supervisors and group leaders to provide strong leadership and people development, utilizing delegation to offer on-the-job learning opportunities.
  • Identify worn or underperforming equipment and develop options for replacement. Create appropriation requests and manage them through to completion.
  • Understand company policies that impact teams and ensure strong policy implementation by supervisors and group leaders, especially policies and practices related to EH&S and Human Resources.
  • Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all OMG employees.
  • Assist the EH&S team with the development of safe and environmentally compliant work practices, and ensure established processes and practices are followed.
  • Prepare contracts, and request quotes, cost estimates, and reports as required.

Position Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, specifications, operating manuals, and compliance materials.
  • Strong understanding of planning and execution tools, including experience with capital improvements.
  • Demonstrated success utilizing lean tools to achieve efficiency and productivity goals.
  • Ability to motivate individuals and teams to perform at high levels to meet or exceed goals.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, seasoned judgment, and a “hands-on” leadership style.
  • Ability to develop existing and future leadership bench using company talent management tools and programs.
  • Strong PC skills including experience with MS Office Suite.
  • 5+ years' demonstrated success managing maintenance activities or comparable activities and driving improvement.
  • Positive can-do attitude.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual material handling involving the need to grip, squeeze, and pinch.
  • Ability to work in high noise areas and wear appropriate hearing protection devices.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle while maintaining focus on safe driving and avoiding all distractions when behind the wheel, especially cell phones.
  • Ability to utilize stepladders, extension, and fixed ladders.
  • Ability to work in an elevated ambient temperature environment.
  • Ability to mount/dismount forklift utilizing three points of contact (two hands and one foot).
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and occasionally lift/push/pull/carry up to 25 pounds.
