Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Maintenance Equipment Operator for the Shapiro Center located in Kankakee, Illinois to perform a variety of routine manual or semi-skilled tasks involving the operation of automotive and related maintenance equipment including snowplows, tractors, trucks, busses, etc. Completes simple adjustments, repairs and maintenance. Completes routine logs and reports. Ensures task completion is compliant with Public Health, Department and Facility policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Maintains supplies for equipment maintenance and functioning such as cleaning supplies, safety items, etc.
- Exercises safety precautions in the operation of equipment.
- Completes routine logs and reports relating to equipment and tasks such as maintenance log, daily vehicle checklist, appointment/schedule log etc.
- Performs a variety of routine manual or semi-skilled tasks involving the operation of automotive and related maintenance equipment including snowplows, tractors, trucks, busses, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires one (1) year’s experience in performing a variety of semiskilled mechanical and manual tasks in the maintenance and operation of automotive or related maintenance equipment.
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires a valid driver’s license.
- Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
- Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
- Requires the ability to travel.
- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
- Requires a valid class A or B commercial driver’s license with a passenger endorsement (CDL-P).
