Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Performs preventive maintenance, repairs, minor constructions, and operates the electrical distribution system. Participates as a team member by performing additional assignments not directly related to job description when workload requires and as requested by supervisor. Employee may be required to drive company-owned vehicle and, if so, is expected to comply with appropriate regulations and policy.

Employment Qualifications

  • Previous hospital experience is preferred.
  • Must have at least three years experience in construction, installation and maintenance of electrical facilities.
  • High School diploma and completion of trade school courses in trade apprenticeship program in electrical circuits and equipment.
  • Must possess a current Journeyman’s Electrician’s License.

Essential Job Functions

  • Locates defects and effects repairs to electrical motors and motor starters, auxiliary control devices, dietary equipment, incinerator, main boilers, automatic doors, etc.
  • Performs housekeeping and clean of maintenance shop and engineering spaces as assigned. Uses time effectively of enhance the medical center
  • Maintains assigned areas through cosmetic inspections and effects repairs or initiates maintenance work orders as possible
  • Locates defects and effects repairs to distribution power circuits, lighting systems/fixtures
  • Locates defects and effects repairs to portable electrical equipment, i.e., electrical hand tools, housekeeping equipment, etc. Assumes responsibility for resolution to problem, with input from supervisor if necessary, including use of outside vendor.

  • Provides building maintenance and repairs completing non-scheduled maintenance work orders in the order received (date time stamped) with patient care first priority.
  • Inspects, repairs and corrects all deficiencies found in the building maintenance program. Performs preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance.
  • Performs Generator testing and load testing and turns in completed documentation for filing. Informs supervisor of any generator problems.
  • Completes documentation for Preventative Maintenance program.
