Job Description
The Mailroom Clerk sorts incoming mail for distribution, dispatches outgoing mail, and receives and distributes packages.


  • Receive, track, and manage all packages from various delivery services. Handle all package check-in/check-out and package distribution.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be available to work flexible shifts (including Saturdays). Must be available for overtime when mail volume warrants.
  • Examine outgoing mail for appearance and seal envelopes by hand or machine. Weigh mail to determine postage, and keep records of registered mail. Re-address undeliverable mail.
  • Collect, receive, sort, and route mail to all departments, personnel, and campus housing for students and staff. Sort mail according to destination and type (returned letters, bills, adjustments, orders, payments, etc.).
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group settings to customers, clients, and other employees of the School.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Use campus vehicle to collect and deliver mail throughout campus and to local post office. Service vehicle as needed – check fluid levels and gasoline.
