Salary
$14.50 - 15.50/ hour
Perform manual work involving the sorting, delivering and collection of U.S. mail, campus mail and accountable mail to and from designated buildings and offices of the Rolla campus at Missouri S&T in accordance with prescribed routes. Work is reviewed through evaluation of general effectiveness as reflected by comments, speed and accuracy of sorting, route flexibility and attendance record.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and prepare outgoing mail and examine returned pieces
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Accurately sort incoming mail and distribute to various departments
  • Operate mail vehicles and perform general preventative maintenance (e.g. fill fuel tanks, etc. as required)
  • May deliver and obtain signed receipt for accountable mail (certified, registered, insured, express and returned UPS parcels)
Supervision Received
Under direct supervision of designated supervisor, receives oral instructions as needed or where any deviation from route procedure occurs. Functional supervision is occasionally received from higher level mail carrier and department manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • Above average hand-to-eye coordination
  • Ability to receive instruction, guidance and direction in a courteous way
  • Ability to lift and carry a maximum of 70 pounds
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to obtain a class E driver’s license within two months of hire.
  • Ability to cooperate and be a functioning member of the team
  • Good physical health to withstand walking, including under adverse weather conditions
  • Excellent customer service and willingness to be helpful
  • A valid Missouri driver’s license
  • A high school diploma or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
