Job Description

        POSITION DESCRIPTION

        The Special Process Molder position pays $28.94 per hour with shift differential part of a rotation schedule. The Special Process Molder is a highly physical (see physical demands below) and critical role in our Molding department. Responsible for operating a wide variety of mechanical, hydraulic, robotic and/or manual presses to compact mix to mold product forming or molding complex products utilizing a combination of specific formulas. Operations include the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and various types of precision measuring equipment instruments. • Applies knowledge of materials and products to make distinctions between complex mix, pressing and finishing techniques. • Calculates accurate density targets for each mix data and conducts workability tests. Completes a density test and uses data logging and process monitoring by utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) formatted systems and procedures. • Utilizes a high degree of knowledge of various hydraulic, mechanical, robotic and/or manual presses, and equipment with varying difficulty to compact and mold intricate shapes that hold to tight tolerances. • Possesses knowledge of equipment and pressing techniques designed to change the material weight or move the wall thickness. • Utilizes measuring instruments such as calipers, vernier gauges, protractors and Statistical Process Control (SPC). • Conducts first piece and periodic product inspection to ensure conformance to blueprint. Makes adjustments as necessary. • Uses a combination of specific formulas (weight/volume, conversion of fractions & millimeters, etc.) and pressing techniques designed to change the material weight or move the thickness to achieve the desired density goal.

        REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

        Physical Demands/Efforts • Repetitively lifts up to 50-100 pounds without assistance. Frequently maneuvers or handles greater than 50 pounds with assistance. • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell. Mental & Visual Demands • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
